THE CURRENT MODEL

The main driver for Ant’s change, was the need to be more efficient and farm differently in order to build on a long term successful model for farming this land. Previously at Waimiha, on this part of the farm, they have been:

  • cutting silage from spring growth – est cost PA of $30k
  • spending up to 4-5 hours daily in the tractor feeding out
  • had less time to manage and maintain the rest of the farm

TIMELINE FOR DEVELOPMENT

  • Land destined for development partially shut up in April to protect cover for June
  • April 2021-May 2021 – survey, design, marking out and install the 3 lane systems – total land area in system 77Ha
  • Animals brought on the systems early June.
  • July – Sept – learning the system and becoming familiar with all of it’s inner workings
